The Ministry of Health of Czech Republic refused to buy one million covid-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca, which the United Arab Emirates offered to the Czech Republic. Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček (ČSSD) told the Respekt.cz server. The Minister of Health, Jan Blatný, stated that these were vaccines made in India that were not authorized for use in the EU.
“I was disappointed by the decision of the Ministry of Health. We received an offer to purchase one million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the United Arab Emirates, manufactured under license in India. This vaccine would be in the Czech Republic in two months at the latest and would significantly help us in the pace of vaccination, ”Petříček told Respekt.
